Make your Listings stand out on Trade Me

When vehicles are exported to various websites such as TradeMe and Dealerpoint, Motorcentral sends the Year, Make, Model and Model Variant of the vehicle as four separate pieces of information. Some websites use this information to create the Vehicle Listing Title which describes a vehicle when it's shown alongside other vehicles offered for sale (see an example below).

Motorcentral allows you to stand out from the crowd, by allowing you to create a more descriptive and engaging Vehicle Listing Title (see the example below). It does this by allowing you to export an Alternate Variant instead of the normal Model Variant shown in the Vehicle Listing Title.

The advantage of using the Alternate Variant feature is it allows you to have a descriptive Vehicle Listing Title  without affecting the actual Model Variant of the vehicle which is often displayed on items such as your CIN cards and Vehicle Offer & Sale Agreements.

Selecting an Alternate Variant

Begin by opening the vehicle you would like to edit and navigate to the Export tab of that vehicle.

Once there you will see a field labelled Alternate Variant. You may use this field to assign an Alternate Variant up to 25 characters long to the vehicle.

Enter your preferred value and Save the vehicle to commit your changes. Next time an export is completed your Alternate Variant will be sent. [Note: Provided that export is set to use the Alternate Variant field - see below]

Setting an Export to use the Alternate Variant

Before the Alternative Variant can be exported you must designate for each export whether you wish to send the Alternate Variant or not. To do this go to the Export tab and select the Export you wish to use the Alternate Variant for.

Select an Exporter from the Export tab

Once there, go to the Admin tab of the selected Exporter. At the bottom of this tab you can select if the Exporter should Export Alternate Variant or not.

To export Alternate Variants, check the Export Alternate Variant checkbox. Click Save Settings to commit your changes.

Now the next time you export this Exporter, any alternate variants entered will be sent for those vehicles that have them.
