Tracking dealer plates on test drives

Shane Breckon Updated

Whenever a vehicle goes out for a test drive, it's important to record whether a dealer plate was attached. This helps protect your dealership in case a parking fine or traffic offence is issued to that plate.

Adding dealer plates to your DMS library

  1. Go to Tools > Lookups > Vehicle… > All Vehicles (tab).
  2. Click Dealer Plates.
  3. Click Add and enter the dealer plate details.
  4. Click Finish to save.

You can also edit or delete dealer plates from this same screen if needed.

  2. In the Dealer Plate dropdown, select a plate from your library or choose Add New… to enter a new one.
  3. Complete the rest of the test drive details.
  4. Click Save.

Other useful info

  • The system automatically creates an Event Log entry when any of these details are changed on a test drive:

    • Start time
    • End time
    • Dealer plate

This helps you track who was using a plate at any given time.

  • If a customer signs digitally on-device, they can request a copy of the test drive agreement to be emailed to them. It includes:

    • Start time
    • Estimated return time
    • Dealer plate (if one was used)
