What is Motorcentral?

Motorcentral is a dealer management system (DMS) built for New Zealand vehicle dealerships. It helps you manage your vehicle inventory, track leads and sales, handle finance and insurance, stay on top of your compliance requirements, and run your day-to-day dealership operations.

Two platforms, one system

Motorcentral comes in two forms:

  • Motorcentral Desktop - a Windows application installed on your dealership's computers
  • Motorcentral App - a browser-based app you can access from any device, also available on iPhone, iPad, and Android

Both platforms share the same data. Changes made on one are immediately visible on the other. Some features are currently available on Desktop only - the help centre notes these where applicable.

Key concepts

Motorcentral is built around a few core areas that you will encounter across the system.

  • Vehicles
    Your vehicle inventory is the heart of Motorcentral. Every vehicle your dealership owns, has sold, or is trading is stored as a vehicle record with details like make, model, year, price, costs, registration, odometer history, and photos. Vehicles flow through statuses as they move through your business - for example, At Supplier, At Compliance, On Yard, On Test Drive, On Loan, and Sold: giving you a clear audit trail from purchase to sale.
  • Contacts
    The people and businesses you deal with - customers, suppliers, finance companies, and other parties. Each contact has a profile with their details, history, and any linked vehicles or opportunities.
  • Opportunities and activities
    An opportunity tracks a customer's journey from initial interest through to a sale (or lost deal). While you can create opportunities manually, Motorcentral also builds them automatically around your day-to-day interactions. When you add an activity for a customer (a phone call, test drive, finance application, etc.), Motorcentral either adds it to the customer's open opportunity or creates a new one automatically.
  • Sales
    A sale is recorded when a deal is completed. The sale record links the vehicle, the customer, payment details, and any associated products and paperwork - keeping your records organised and easy to audit. Sales can be retail, wholesale, or trade-in.
  • Exports
    Motorcentral can push your vehicle listings to your website and third-party advertising and listing platforms automatically - such as Trade Me Motors, Autotrader, Need A Car and others. You control which vehicles are exported and to which platforms, from the vehicle record or in bulk from the inventory list.
  • Reports
    A range of reports to help you track your dealership's performance - from inventory ageing and sales summaries to CRM activity and financial reporting.

Editions

Motorcentral Desktop is available in two editions:

  • Standard
    Full access to all DMS features including opportunities, CRM, and accounting
  • Express
    Focused on inventory management and exporting vehicles to listing platforms like Trade Me. Does not include opportunities, CRM, or accounting modules

The menus and features visible to you depend on your edition and your user permissions. If you cannot see a feature mentioned in the help centre, check with your dealership's administrator.

Add-on products

The following products extend Motorcentral or work as standalone tools. Your dealership may use one or more of these depending on your subscription.

  • AdConnect
    Automated vehicle advertising on Google and Facebook. AdConnect pulls your live inventory and creates targeted online ads that update automatically as your stock changes.
  • AMPD CRM
    Automated marketing throughout the customer lifecycle. AMPD sends personalised emails, SMS messages, and letters at key touchpoints - from initial enquiry through to years after purchase.
  • Auto Attendant
    Automated email responses to customer vehicle enquiries. Sends an immediate, personalised reply and creates an opportunity in Motorcentral.
  • Avanti Finance Integration
    Vehicle finance and funding integration. Submit finance applications, track approval status, and manage funding directly from your sales workflow.
  • BuyerScore
    Automated customer feedback surveys sent after a purchase or test drive, helping you track customer satisfaction.
  • Car Check
    Vehicle history checks for New Zealand vehicles. See registration history, odometer readings, money owing, stolen status, and more. Can be used standalone or from within Motorcentral.
  • Dealer Websites
    A website builder that connects directly to your Motorcentral inventory. Your website displays your live stock with photos, pricing, and vehicle details - all pulled automatically from the DMS.
  • Insurance
    Insurance product integration within Motorcentral. Offer Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI), guaranteed asset protection (GAP), and other products as part of the sales process via our integrated partners.
  • Need A Car
    A consumer-facing car search platform. Need A Car lists vehicles from dealerships across New Zealand, giving buyers a single place to search and compare.
  • VehicleXchange
    A wholesale vehicle marketplace for dealer-to-dealer trading. Buy and sell vehicles directly with other dealerships.
