Understanding Motorcentral notifications

Motorcentral notifications are designed to help you stay on top of the important things happening in your dealership — whether you're on your desktop, mobile, or in a browser. You can view all your notifications in one place inside the app, and if you choose to, you can also receive push notifications to your device.

Where you'll find notifications

  • Notifications inbox: This is your central hub for all alerts, located on the main screen of Motorcentral desktop and the sidebar menu in the Motorcentral app.
  • Push notifications: You can optionally receive alerts as system-level notifications on Android, iOS (Safari/iOS 16.4+), or supported desktop browsers.

All notifications will appear in your inbox automatically based on your selected user role(s) and preferences.

What types of notifications are there?

Notifications in Motorcentral can be:

  • Standard: A general message with more info and suggested actions
  • Direct link: A message that opens a specific page or website when clicked
  • Simple: A brief one-line notification with no extra actions

What’s inside a notification?

Each notification can include:

  • Title – what the alert is about
  • Short description – a quick summary
  • Click actions – buttons that guide you to next steps
  • Sender – who or what triggered the alert
  • Dismiss/delete button – remove it from your inbox

A notification will remain in your notifications inbox until you either dismiss it or it expires on its own accord.

How to control what you see

Your notifications are personalised based on:

  • Your roles: These describe the kind of work you do (e.g. Sales, Admin, Vehicle Prep)
  • Notification groups: These are specific categories of alerts you’re subscribed to

You can update your notification preferences any time:

  1. Go to Tools > Users…
  2. Select your user account
  3. Use the checkboxes to select roles that match your job
  4. Click Edit… next to Notification preferences to manage groups

You can also unsubscribe from a group directly from any notification — just use the Delete dropdown and select Unsubscribe.

Enabling push notifications

You can choose to receive push notifications on your mobile device or browser in addition to your in-app notification inbox. These alerts can help you stay up to date in real time, even when the app is closed.

How to turn on push notifications

If you're using the Motorcentral app on mobile or via your browser, follow the steps below based on your platform.

Android (native app)

  1. Open your phone’s Settings
  2. Go to Apps > Motorcentral
  3. Select Notifications
  4. Make sure notifications are turned on

Android (PWA installed via Chrome)

  1. Open the Motorcentral PWA from your home screen or directly in Chrome
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner
  3. Choose Permissions (or App info if available)
  4. Tap Notifications
  5. Select Allow if it's currently blocked
Tip: If you don't see the Permissions menu:
  • Go to Android Settings > Apps > Motorcentral
  • Tap Notifications and make sure they are enabled

iOS (native app)

  1. Open your iPhone or iPad Settings
  2. Go to Notifications > Motorcentral
  3. Make sure Allow Notifications is turned on

iOS (PWA installed via Safari – iOS 16.4+ only)

  1. Open Safari and visit the Motorcentral website
  2. Tap Share Add to Home Screen
  3. Open the app from your home screen
  4. When prompted, tap Allow to enable notifications

Later, you can manage PWA permissions via Settings > Notifications > Motorcentral.

Chrome on desktop

  1. Open Chrome and go to chrome://settings/content/notifications
  2. Find the Motorcentral app/site and set it to Allow

Firefox on desktop

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Notifications
  2. Click Settings… and manage the site permissions

Safari on desktop

  1. Open Safari and go to Settings > Websites > Notifications
  2. Find the Motorcentral site and set it to Allow
